HEALTH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION & ATHLETICS

Welcome to the Longwood CSD Department of Health, Physical Education and Athletics. Our programs focus on the development of the whole child and enable students to become competent, confident adults. We provide students with the knowledge necessary to make healthy lifestyles choices, the skills to follow through on those choices, and the civic values to accept and carry out their responsibilities as members of society. We are proud of the quality of programs within our district.

Our physical education and health program provide opportunities for students to gain current knowledge of physical fitness facts, healthful living practices, leisure time pursuits, stress management techniques, and to develop the skills necessary for successful participation in activities and to enhance the quality of their lives.

The Longwood School District supports 69 teams, 40 at the High School and 29 at the Junior High School, involving over 1800 participants each school year in interscholastic competition. Through the involvement of trained coaches, dedicated athletes, a supportive Board of Education and parent booster clubs the students of Longwood have greatly benefited from the spirit and lessons of athletic competition.

To be eligible to participate in school sports, students must get a school physical each year, return a signed parent permission slip, abide by the policies and rules set forth by the athletic department and maintain all academic eligibility requirements.
