Lewis Ward
Lewis Ward was born
on September 11, 1917 at Perham, Maine. He was the son of Jennie (Newbegin)
and John Ward. Before entering the service he was employed as a
Boiler Fireman for the U.S. War Department at Camp Upton. Ward was
inducted into the Army on December 11, 1942 at Camp Upton, New York.
Leaving the U.S. on the ship Colin P. Kelly on November 2, 1943 he
arrived in Oran, Africa. Ward was involved in the European theatre,
North Apennines, Rhineland and the Rome-Arno Campaigns. He was
awarded a World War II Victory Medal, EAME Service Medal and a Good
Conduct Medal. He was discharged from the service on December 12,
1945 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
