Thomas Tovey

Tovey, Thomas A. was born in 1900 in Pennsylvania. Before entering
the service he was employed as an Auto mobile Serviceman. Thomas
enlisted into the Army on November 11, 1942. He was sent to Camp
Upton in Yaphank. At the time of his induction he was living in
Middle Island. Thomas served honorably during the war with the Army
Air Corps. Thomas left the United States and served in Italy, West
Africa, and Jamaica. After the war he received the following
decorations for his time of service: WWII Victory Medal and WWII
Service Lapel Button. Tovey was discharged from the service on
August 4, 1945 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
From the diary of Albert Bayles;
July" 7, 1942
Tom Tovey and Roy Albin went to Governors Island for
Army physical examination.

Oct." 18, 1944
Tom took Tom Tovey to Patchogue to draft board to be taken to
Camp Upton with bunch of other draftees to begin service in
Army.
May " 22, 1944
I wrote letter to Tom Tovey in Italy and to Don in
Louisiana.
