Leslie Neil Risley was born Sept. 1891 in Middle Island and in 1920
was living with his wife on Patchogue-Port Jefferson Road in Coram.
They had three sons, Kenneth, Joseph and Theodore. The Risley
brothers grew up in Coram where they attended the old one room Coram
school.
Kenneth Kevin Risley was born February 27, 1920 and enlisted in the
Navy.
The following is from Patchogue Advance, March 13, 1942:
"Kenneth Risley is stationed at the Naval training school in
Newport, Rhode Island"
Risley was assigned to the Naval Training station at Newport from
Feb. 26th to March 31st 1942. He was next
assigned to the Naval Air Training School at Jacksonville Florida
until Oct. 17, 1942. In Nov. 1942 he was sent for further training
at the Naval Air Technical Training Center at Chicago where he
completed the course in Feb. of 1943. From here Risley was sent to
the Naval Air Station at San Diego where he served from Feb. to June
1943. His final duty station was at the Naval Air Station at
Alameda, Calif. Risley was discharged from the Navy at Shoemaker,
Calif. on March 2, 1946 with the rank of Aviation Machinists Mate
2class. Risley stayed in California where he was a member of the
Oakland Police Department.
