On Monday May 28th, 2007 the Longwood World War II

The Middle Island and Ridge Fire Departments placed a beautiful flag
over Middle Country Road. As you came over the hill towards the park,
you could not help but feel a sense of pride as you saw the flag flying
over the road.

Members of the Wittschack family place a wreath at the base of the
monument in honor of their Uncle, Rudolph Wittschack who was killed
during a bombing mission over the Truk Islands.
