Superintendent's Welcome

Dear Longwood School Community,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer filled with quality time with family and friends. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are so excited to welcome each and every one of our students back on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Throughout the summer, our schools have been bustling with expanded learning opportunities for our students, such as the Summer Bridge Reading Program, Extended School Year, ENL Summer Program, transition and recovery programs, and the Kickstart Program for incoming kindergarten students.

Our team has been diligently preparing for another exciting, enriching, and fulfilling academic year. This past May, the Longwood community overwhelmingly supported an extensive Capital Improvement Project set to maintain and upgrade our school district’s facilities while expanding upon opportunities for all our students to thrive and reach their true potential. Many of our schools and buildings have already undergone upgrades and renovations this summer in preparation for the upcoming school year, including a complete refacing and beautification of many of our cafeterias, gymnasiums, new flooring and paint in offices and classrooms, new signage, security fencing, and much more.

We are committed to ensuring that our students have the very best educational experiences in the learning environments they deserve. From updating our facilities to providing greater access to college and career readiness programs, every aspect of this plan is designed to empower each and every one of our students. We hope that you are as excited as we are and we will continue to keep our families and community updated as the projects progress.

As always, we encourage our families and community members to stay actively involved in our school community. Your collaboration, partnership, and feedback are essential aspects of maintaining open communication and a strong home-to-school connection. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together for Every One ... Every Day. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new school year and cannot wait to welcome our students back for another fantastic first day and school year!

Sincerely,

Lance Lohman, Ed.D.
