Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! As we begin what is certain to be another successful school year here in Longwood, it fills me with great pride and excitement to think of all that lies ahead. Our students continue to shine as they learn and grow each and every day, and our schools remain places of innovation, where personal growth and meaningful connections thrive.

Last year was filled with outstanding achievements, with our students excelling in academics, athletics, the arts, and so much more. Our boys and girls teams brought home League One, Section XI, and Suffolk County championships, and our Unified RoboLions earned the Gracious Professionalism Award, regional recognition, and a Newsday feature. Academic excellence was certainly a consistent theme, with students earning Advanced Placement Scholar honors and completing our Early College High School program. We also celebrated a NYS leading and record-breaking number of students earning the New York State Seal of Biliteracy and Seal of Civic Readiness, while our musicians earned All-County and All-State honors along with the state's NYSSMA Award of Excellence.

Beyond the classroom, our students experienced opportunities in cutting-edge programs including our drone pilot training, skilled trades, health internships at Stony Brook Medicine, and Take a Look at Teaching in our own schools. Through our dual enrollment program, our students continue to earn thousands of college credits while saving our families more than seven hundred thousand dollars in tuition.

At the same time, our schools and facilities continue to undergo significant upgrades, improvements, and renovations, ensuring that we continue to keep Longwood moving forward with the welcoming, modern spaces our students and community deserve.

This year marks an exciting milestone as Longwood students step into our state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center at the High School. As part of our Capital Improvement Projects, these spaces expand access to high-quality, hands-on learning aligned with in-demand job certifications and future-ready career pathways, with new programs in Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Barbering, Engineering, and Medical Assisting. These learning environments reflect our commitment to prepare each and every student to be "First-Choice Ready," whether their path leads to college, the workforce, or anywhere in between.

Throughout our great district, we continue to see tremendous growth and success as we remain committed to educating the whole child, supporting academic excellence, social-emotional well-being, creativity, and continuous individual development. This balanced approach and our strong community partnership are what make Longwood such a special place to learn and grow.
