District Leadership
Superintendent of Schools Lance Lohman, Ed.D.

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!
As we begin what is certain to be another successful school year here in Longwood, it fills me with great pride and excitement to think of all that lies ahead. Our students continue to shine as they learn and grow each and every day, and our schools continue to serve as places of innovation, where personal growth and meaningful connections continue to thrive.
Last year was filled with outstanding achievements, with our students excelling in academics, sports, and on the local and national stage. Our students won League One, Section XI, and Suffolk County championships, and our Robotics team brought home local, state, and national honors. Academic excellence was a consistent theme with countless recognitions like the College Board National Recognition Program, and our inaugural Drone and CAD pilot program, which prepared our students for high-demand careers right out of high school. We celebrated a
record number of students earning the New York State Seal of Biliteracy and the Seal of Civic Readiness, and our musicians showcased their unmatched talents on national stages.
We’ve also had a very busy and productive summer, with many of our students participating in expanded learning opportunities, including the Early College High School program, the ENL Summer Program, the Summer Bridge Reading Program, and Extended School Year services. At the same time, our schools and facilities continue to undergo significant upgrades, improvements, and renovations, ensuring that we begin the year with welcoming, modern spaces designed to support student growth and success.
This year marks a significant turning point for our district with the groundbreaking of Longwood’s new, state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility at Longwood High School. As part of our Capital Improvement Projects, this transformational space will expand access to high-quality, hands-on learning experiences aligned with in-demand job certifications and future-ready career pathways. This new facility will serve as a hub for CTE academies, including Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, Barbering, Culinary Arts—with a fully equipped industrial kitchen, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, Media Production, and a Medical Assistant program. These cutting-edge learning environments reflect Longwood’s continued commitment to prepare every student to be “First-Choice Ready,” whether their path leads to college, the workforce, or anywhere in between.
Throughout our great district, we’ve seen not only tremendous academic growth and success, but even more importantly, we’ve remained committed to educating the whole child, supporting academic excellence, social emotional well-being, creativity, and continuous individual development. This balanced approach is truly what separates Longwood from the pack and continues to ensure that we remain a special place to learn and grow. Thank you all for your ongoing partnership and support! We cannot wait to see you all back here in school on September 2, 2025, and look forward to all we will accomplish together in the year ahead!
Sincerely,

Lance Lohman, Ed.D.
