The Longwood Central School District has named Corrine Unterstein as the new assistant principal at Longwood Junior High School. Ms.Unterstein replaces Ken O'Neill, who was appointed as assistant principal at Longwood High School.

Longwood High School seniors Michael Gallagher, bassoon, and Michael Varacchi, saxophone, have been selected to perform alongside top-performing high school musicians across the nation in the 2022 National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All-National Concert Band. The students are among only 41 selected from New York State and only 12 from Suffolk County.

The Longwood High School girls' varsity volleyball team defeated Patchogue Medford in five sets and made history as Suffolk County League Champions for the first time since 1999. The Lady Lions ended their season with a 9-1 record, and move on to the playoffs next week.

Two Longwood High School seniors, Sophia Porras and Michael Ho, have been named Scholar-Artists by the Long Island Arts Alliance for their achievements in the arts and their academic studies.
The New York State Education Department, in partnership with the New York State Middle School Association and the Statewide Network of Middle-Level Liaisons, named Longwood Junior High School as one of 16 statewide Essential Elements: Schools to Watch. The Junior High School previously received the honor in 2012, 2016, and 2018.

The Longwood Central School District is pleased to share that Sam Ahmed, Ed.D. has been appointed as the next principal of Longwood High School.
Dr. Ahmed has been serving the Longwood School community, as a valued member of the District’s leadership team, since 2016, when he was appointed assistant principal at Longwood High School. Most recently, Dr. Ahmed has been serving as the Director of Special Programs and Data Reporting.

The Longwood Board of Education has appointed Scott Schuster as the District’s Director of College and Career Pathways, effective July 1, 2022. Since 2015, Mr. Schuster has served as the principal of Longwood High School.
In his new role, Mr. Schuster will advance community and business partnerships that support and improve student outcomes, seek out new grant opportunities, collaborate with leadership teams, and expand career pathways for immediate and future workforce needs.
The District is pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Longo as principal of Coram Elementary School, effective July 1, 2022.
Senior Shelby Spillet was recently named the 2022 winner of the Congressional Art Competition for the First Congressional District.
Shelby's oil pastel drawing, By the Seaside, will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year. In addition, Shelby has been invited to Washington, DC, to attend a reception for this year's first-place winners from each congressional district throughout the country.
For the third consecutive year, the Longwood High School Mock Trial Team won the title of champions at the Annual Moot Court One-On-One Civil Law Day Tournament, hosted by Northport High School.
