Melanie Holroyd, Assistant Principal

The Longwood Central School District proudly celebrates Melanie Holroyd, Assistant Principal at Ridge Elementary School, whose career embodies what it means to grow, lead, and give back within the Longwood community. A proud Longwood graduate herself, Mrs. Holroyd has returned to serve the very district where her own educational journey began—bringing with her over a decade of teaching and instructional leadership experience dedicated to student achievement and educator support.

Before stepping into her administrative role, Mrs. Holroyd spent 12 years as a classroom teacher, primarily in sixth grade at Longwood Middle School, where she was widely recognized for her engaging instruction and the positive classroom culture she fostered. Her deep understanding of curriculum, assessment, and the social-emotional needs of students earned her a reputation as a trusted and inspiring educator.

For the past four years, Mrs. Holroyd served as an Instructional Support Coach, providing data-driven coaching, designing professional development sessions, and supporting staff in refining instructional practices. In addition, having served as a Building Technology Coach for 10 years, she has helped colleagues integrate digital tools and platforms to enhance teaching and student engagement, paving the way for a more connected and innovative learning environment.

Mrs. Holroyd also played a vital role in shaping teacher growth districtwide. She facilitated Longwood’s New Teacher Mentoring Program, guiding untenured educators as they began their careers, and served on the District Technology Committee, helping design and implement the rollout of Chromebook distribution to every student—a milestone in Longwood’s advancement of digital learning.

“Mrs. Holroyd exemplifies the spirit of Longwood—dedicated, forward-thinking, and deeply rooted in our community,” said Dr. Lohman, Superintendent of Schools. “Her leadership in instruction and technology has been instrumental in supporting both students and staff. We are proud to have one of our own continuing to lead and inspire within the district.”

Mrs. Holroyd holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s University and a Master’s Degree from Stony Brook University. She is certified in School Building and District Leadership, Special Education (Birth–Grade 6), and General Education (Birth–Grade 6).

Through her deep roots, instructional expertise, and passion for innovation, Melanie Holroyd continues to strengthen the culture of excellence and pride that defines Longwood.
