Spotlight: Ryan Cereola, Assistant Principal, Longwood High School

The Longwood Central School District proudly recognizes Ryan Cereola, who joined Longwood High School as Assistant Principal earlier this year. In just a short time, Mr. Cereola has become a valued member of the administrative team, bringing both a strong instructional background and a student-centered approach that reflects Longwood’s commitment to excellence. His enthusiasm for collaboration and data-informed decision-making has already made a meaningful impact on the school community.

A lifelong Long Islander who grew up in Manorville, Mr. Cereola began his education career as a New York City Teaching Fellow in 2016. For the next nine years, he taught mathematics at a public high school in Queens, where he led courses ranging from Algebra 2 and AP Statistics to Geometry and Business Math. His dedication to helping students succeed in challenging coursework earned him recognition among both students and colleagues.

In his final two years with the NYCDOE, Mr. Cereola served as Student Data Coordinator, overseeing instructional departments and guiding staff in using student data to inform teaching and learning. This experience strengthened his focus on continuous improvement and his belief that data, when used thoughtfully, can drive meaningful progress for every learner.

“Mr. Cereola has quickly distinguished himself as a dynamic and collaborative leader,” said Dr. Lohman, Superintendent of Schools. “His ability to connect with students, support our staff, along with his deep understanding of instruction and data analysis has brought tremendous value to our high school. We are thrilled to have him as part of the Longwood leadership team.”

With a growth mindset and collaborative approach, Mr. Cereola is committed to building strong partnerships with students, parents, and faculty to advance teaching and learning. His impact on our school community has been immediate and positive.”

Mr. Cereola holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Binghamton University, a Master of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from St. John’s University, and a Master of Science in School Building and District Leadership from Touro University.

“I couldn’t be more excited to serve as Assistant Principal at Longwood High School,” said Mr. Cereola. “Serving this community is a dream come true. The staff, students, and parents have been so welcoming, and I already feel at home here in Longwood.”

The district commends Mr. Cereola for his outstanding start and looks forward to the continued impact of his leadership at Longwood High School—further strengthening the tradition of Pride, Spirit, and Heart that defines the Longwood community.
