Two Longwood High School seniors have been named Scholar-Artists by the Long Island Arts Alliance for their achievements in the arts and their academic studies.
Sophia Porras was designated a Merit Award Winner in Visual Arts, and Michael Ho was named a Merit Award Winner in the area of Music. Sophia and Michael will appear in Newsday in June 2023 and participate in an Awards Ceremony.
Created and sponsored by the Long Island Arts Alliance, the Long Island Scholar-Artist program recognizes students judged to be “the best of the best” on Long Island in academics and the arts.
Honorees are selected based on a demonstration of excellence in the arts established by a portfolio of their work, a display of excellence in academic achievement, and submission of an essay on how the arts have enriched their lives.
