At the Thursday, October 10 meeting, the Longwood Board of Education recognized several outstanding individuals who make our school community so special.
The Board proudly presented the Carl Verdi Community Pride Award to Tom Bove, President of the Longwood Youth Sports Association (LYSA). His decades of volunteerism, tireless advocacy for athletics, and continuous efforts to build strong connections between the district and the community embody the very heart of Longwood’s Pride, Spirit, and Heart. Congratulations, Mr. Bove!
In addition, LYSA was honored with the inaugural School Community Partnership Award, celebrating their unwavering dedication to our students and families. With over 3,000 families involved across 10 sports, LYSA is one of the largest sports organizations on Long Island—fostering a lifelong love of sports and opening doors to countless opportunities for our students.
