Three Longwood Members Honored at SCOPE Awards

2026 SCOPE Award Honorees

Congratulations to three members of our school community who were recognized at the SCOPE 25th Annual "Shining Above the Rest" Awards Dinner on March 23, 2026.

Teacher Service Award: Gina Iannotti, Special Education Teacher

Gina Iannotti has spent her career as a steady advocate for students who need it most, ensuring they are seen, valued, and supported. Her leadership was instrumental in Longwood earning recognition as a My Brother's Keeper Community through her work building the district's MBK and My Sister's Keeper programs.

Support Staff Award: Leslie McCormack, Senior Stenographer

Leslie McCormack has served the Longwood Central School District for more than 40 years, spending over two decades as Senior Stenographer at Longwood High School alongside more than ten principals. Her deep institutional knowledge of the high school and its culture has guided every administrator she has worked with. Her family's Longwood roots run just as deep: her husband, children, and grandchildren are all part of the Longwood community.

Community Service Award: Gail Lynch-Bailey

Gail Lynch-Bailey has volunteered across the Longwood community for more than 30 years, serving as president of the Longwood PTA Council, the Longwood Alliance, and the Middle Island Civic Association. Among her most lasting contributions is the creation of the Veterans' Memorial at Bartlett Pond Park, honoring community veterans dating back to the Revolutionary War. Her decades of service have been recognized with honors including the Town of Brookhaven's "Woman of the Year" and the New York State Senate's "Woman of Distinction."

Congratulations to all three honorees.
