Recognizing Record-Breaking Achievements in Biliteracy
Longwood High School celebrated 162 graduating seniors, earning a record-breaking 172 New York State Seals of Biliteracy—our highest total to date! This milestone year includes 10 students who earned the Seal in two languages, making it our most impressive achievement yet.
With close to 50 world languages spoken across Longwood, the Seal of Biliteracy highlights the richness of our community’s cultural and linguistic diversity. It honors students with advanced proficiency in multiple languages—an accomplishment reflecting academic excellence and global readiness.
Each recipient met rigorous standards and showcased their language skills through coursework and a formal presentation before a panel of judges.
“The wide range of languages and topics presented by our students reflects the rich diversity of the Longwood community,” said Seal of Biliteracy Coordinator Olivia-Beate Kapuscincki. “Each presentation showcases the students’ commitment to challenge themselves, explore new ideas, and share their curiosity with others. Doing so in not just one but two or more languages is truly inspiring. I encourage them to continue using their language skills to explore the world, pursue their passions, and build bridges across cultures and communities.”
Congratulations to our students, and thank you to our teachers for their guidance and support in maintaining Longwood’s position amongst the very best in New York State!
