MOCK TRIAL TEAM EARNS CHAMPIONSHIP
For the third consecutive year, the Longwood High School Mock Trial Team won the title of champions at the Annual Moot Court One-On-One Civil Law Day Tournament, hosted by Northport High School.
Under the guidance of advisors Ms. Eisen and Mr. Chan, two Longwood teams competed against schools from Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties, with both earning quarterfinal status. After six intense one-hour rounds, one Longwood team, comprised of legal assistants Arianna Ramos and Courtney Bock, star witness Peyton Morrison, and star attorneys Makayla Zito and Nicholas Barone, earned the championship title.
Students demonstrated their knowledge of law and courtroom procedures throughout the tournament in a trial case involving issues relevant to young people. Judging was handled by local attorneys and judges based on criteria, including preparation, performance, and professionalism.
"We are so proud of our students' dedication and outstanding accomplishments," said Ms. Eisen. "A three-year consecutive championship is a first for Longwood High School!"
