Longwood Central School District Unveils New High School Fitness Center

Board members, Superintendent, and students cut ribbon to Fitness Center

The Longwood Central School District recently celebrated the completion of its new state-of-the-art fitness center at Longwood High School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which officially marked this new milestone for student health, wellness, and athletic excellence.

“Today is a proud day for our school community,” said Superintendent Dr. Lohman. “We are so proud to be able to offer our student-athletes access to facilities that are truly second to none. It is with pride, spirit, and heart that we officially open this fitness center to our students as it exemplifies our continued commitment to providing students with the tools they need to reach their full potential—both on and off the field.”

As part of the district’s ongoing Capital Improvement Projects, the new fitness center replaced our previous workout room, which was much smaller and equipped with outdated equipment. The new fitness center not only features the most advanced and up-to-date equipment designed to support physical education, athletic training, and personal fitness but also ensures equal access and support to every one of our student-athletes.

Senior Brielle Kelly, a member of the varsity girls’ soccer team, shared that the Fitness Center will encourage and inspire others to uphold what it means to be a Longwood athlete.

“A Longwood athlete shows confidence, strength, and a strong work ethic,” said Brielle. “The new Fitness Center will help every athlete reach their goals, improve our athletic programs, and prepare those of us aiming for collegiate athletics.”

The upgraded facility includes a dedicated cardio area equipped with state-of-the-art spin bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, and interactive gaming bikes for a truly immersive workout experience, along with fully branded power racks and Olympic weights designed to enhance strength training, conditioning, and performance for our student-athletes and physical education students of all levels. Longwood’s dedication to empowering our students has truly positioned the district as a leader in athletic excellence throughout the State.

“This new facility will give our students the resources they need to keep improving and excel in their athletic careers, and I’m excited to start using the equipment myself,” shared senior varsity football player Clint Chichester.
