Longwood Middle School Welcomes Assistant Principal
The Longwood Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Tomasi as assistant principal at Longwood Middle School.
Since February 2022, Mr. Tomasi has served as the director of the Leaders of Tomorrow Empire Program at Amityville School District, where he worked with students in grades 1-12 to provide rigorous academic, college, and career readiness programs. He also worked collaboratively with district leaders to establish program operations, policies, and procedures.
“We welcome Mr. Tomasi to our community and are excited to have him join our team,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lohman. “His years of diverse teaching and administrative experience along with his ability to connect with staff, students, and families, make him an outstanding addition to our middle school’s wonderful team of administrators, educators, and staff who work each and every day to place our students first.”
In 2016, Mr. Tomasi joined the Amityville School District, where he taught high school social studies. He was appointed summer school principal at Amityville High School in 2021, overseeing daily operations for the academic program. Mr. Tomasi became the summer school principal at Park Avenue Elementary School in 2022.
“I am honored to join the Longwood School community,” said Mr. Tomasi. “Building relationships with our school community fosters student learning in an inclusive and welcoming environment. I look forward to using my experience and passion for education as I step into this role.”
Mr. Tomasi earned his Bachelor’s degree in Adolescent Education in Social Studies from SUNY Cortland, a Master of Science in Special Education in Teaching Students with Disabilities from the City University of New York at Queens, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and an Advanced Certificate in School Building and District Leadership from the College of Saint Rose.
