Longwood High School Announces Class of 2025 Co-Valedictorians and Salutatorian
At this year's graduation, the Longwood High School Class of 2025 will be led by two outstanding valedictorians and a distinguished salutatorian. Emma Boles and Jared Cox have earned the title of co-valedictorian, while Joseph Caliendo has been recognized as salutatorian.
Co-valedictorian Emma Boles has earned numerous academic accolades, including the prestigious Rensselaer Medal Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science. She is a College Board AP Scholar with multiple Exceptional Academic Awards. Emma’s passion for STEM is evident through her participation in the Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Bootcamp and the Advanced Science Research Team.
Beyond academics, Emma is an accomplished musician, performing with the Chamber Orchestra, Jam Session Club, and Choralions and earning All-County honors from SCMEA and NYSCAME. She leads as president of the National Honor Society and is a Tri-M Honor Society and Math Honor Society member. Additionally, she excels in athletics as captain of the varsity cross country, winter track, and spring track and field teams, earning All-League recognition. Emma is currently undecided on her college choice but plans to pursue a degree in engineering.
Co-valedictorian Jared Cox is a talented musician dedicated to both academics and the arts. A National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist and College Board AP Scholar with Distinction, he has received numerous Exceptional Academic Achievement Awards. His musical excellence has earned him high honors from SCMEA and NYSCAME, and he was selected as an All-State Alternate from NYSSMA.
Jared is a charter member of the Harp Ensemble and a student leader in the Chamber Orchestra, Marching Band, Jazz Band, String Quartet, and theater productions. He is also actively involved in the Tri-M Honor Society, National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Pit Orchestra, Quiz Bowl, and the Seal of Civics Program. This fall, he plans to pursue a degree in Music Education.
Salutatorian Joseph Caliendo has earned numerous academic distinctions, including the National Merit Scholarship Commendation, the College Board AP Scholar with Distinction Award, and multiple Academic Excellence Awards.
A dedicated leader, Joseph has served as treasurer of Student Government throughout high school and is an active member of the Board of Education’s Policy, Safety, and Legislative Committees. He is also involved in the National Honor Society, Coding Club, Math Club, the Seal of Civics Program, the Advanced Science Research Team, and the SPARK Program. Additionally, he serves as president of Longwood’s inaugural Math Honor Society. Joseph plans to study Mathematics this fall.
Beyond academics, Joseph is on the varsity bowling team, serving as captain and earning All-League and High-League honors.
