Longwood High School Announces Class of 2024 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Longwood High School proudly announces Gregory Cohen and Katherine Miller as the Class of 2024 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Finishing at the top of his class, valedictorian Gregory Cohen will pursue a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Robotics at The University of Alabama.

Throughout his high school journey, Gregory has earned outstanding honors and awards, including being named a National Merit Finalist, a semi-finalist of the FIRST Robotics Dean’s List Award, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and the 2023 Outstanding Physics Student of the Year by AAPT. He achieved a perfect score on the AP Computer Science Principles Exam, earned Exceptional Academic Awards, and received the National Rural and Small Town Recognition from the College Board and the Creativity Award from Rockwell Automation.

Gregory is also a member of the Math Club, National Honor Society, FIRST Robotics, Science Quiz Bowl, and Protein SPARK through Brookhaven National Laboratory, and plays varsity tennis and travel soccer.

Outside of school, Gregory has developed a scouting application for robotics that enables teams worldwide to view data and analysis in real time during matches.  

Salutatorian Katherine Miller has achieved exceptional academic honors and has been dedicated to music and the arts. Katherine will attend Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences to major in Physics. 

Katherine has maintained academic excellence and has been recognized through numerous Exceptional Academic Awards, the Scholar-Athlete Award, the Outstanding Physics Student of the Year Award by AAPT, and the AP Scholar with Distinction Award.

Throughout her high school journey, Katherine has been actively involved in various activities and has consistently demonstrated excellence in all her endeavors. She has been a member of the Advance Science Research team and SPARK Program, the National Honor Society, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the National Foreign Language Honor Society. She has also been a member of the softball team since ninth grade.

In addition to her academic achievements, Katherine has dedicated herself to music and the arts. She has earned All-County by SCMEA and is a member of the Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Band, Double Reed Wood Ensemble, and Drama Club, and has participated in leadership programs and performed at the Staller Center and Carnegie Hall.
