Longwood Recognized as One of the Best Communities for Music Education – 17 Years in a Row!
We are proud to share that the Longwood Central School District has again been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, marking our 17th consecutive year receiving this national honor!
This recognition celebrates Longwood’s exceptional commitment to ensuring all students have access to high-quality music education. We are one of only 69 districts on Long Island and just 30 in Suffolk County to earn this prestigious designation in 2025.
From the great work happening in our general music classes to students selected for All-County and All-State festivals, the unique harp program at both the High School and Junior High, and our outstanding stage productions across the district, this award reflects the depth and diversity of Longwood’s music offerings.
To qualify, districts must demonstrate excellence in funding, curriculum, participation, community engagement, and support for music programs. This achievement reflects the dedication of our talented music educators, whose passion and hard work continue to enrich the lives of our students every day.
Special thanks to our music faculty, students, families, and community members who help make Longwood’s music program a model of excellence.
