Five High School Students Selected for National Student Leadership Program

Five high school students recently participated in the Summer Leadership Symposium, receiving leadership, musicianship, and advocacy training from nationally-recognized presenters at Ball State University.

Sponsored by Music For All, more than 500 students participated in the program where they learned from experts to enhance their skills as leaders in their school music program as drum majors, color guard members, and percussionists.

“The Symposium was a wonderful opportunity for our students to develop their leadership skills in music as they prepare for college or career,’’ said Dr. John J. Gallagher, Longwood’s director of music and fine arts. “We are so proud of these students who learned collaboratively with other musicians from schools outside our area. The experience they received by working with renowned master educators was a great opportunity.”

Music for All’s mission is to create, provide and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all. Believing that music and arts education is a core to students’ education and must be available to all students.
