Dr. Williams Wells Appointed Director of Curriculum for Math and Science
The Longwood Central School District has appointed Dr. Desiree Williams Wells as the Director of Curriculum for Math and Science.
Dr. Wells comes to Longwood from Nassau BOCES Joseph M Barry Career and Technology Center, where she served as assistant principal since 2020. In that capacity, she coordinated new teacher and mentor programs, supervised DASA teams, facilitated monthly site-based team meetings, and initiated book talks on culturally responsive teaching. Dr. Wells also served as the testing coordinator responsible for scheduling pre and post-APPR and technical endorsement exams and developed student learning objectives in conjunction with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She was the co-principal of the Alternative school at North Babylon High School from 2018-2020. She brings nearly 15 years of educational experience to the position, including serving as an administrative dean, mentor coach, and high school teacher.
Dr. Wells received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University, her Doctor of Chiropractic from the New York Chiropractic College, and her Master's in Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. She earned her Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.
"Dr. Wells brings a wealth of educational experiences to the position," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lance Lohman. "Her administrative background and years of teaching experience will serve her well along her journey as part of our school community."
