Corrine Unterstein Named Assistant Principal at Longwood Junior High School

The Longwood Central School District has named Corrine Unterstein as the assistant principal at Longwood Junior High School. Ms.Unterstein replaces Ken O'Neill, who was appointed as assistant principal at Longwood High School.

Since 2015, Ms. Unterstein served as an administrative assistant at Longwood High School, where she implemented restorative practice strategies to foster a positive school culture, and provided social-emotional support to enhance student achievement. Previously, she served as a physical education teacher at the high school, where she assisted in the development of the outdoor education program and implemented innovative physical education learning experiences. During her time at Longwood, Ms. Unterstein has also served as a coach for our junior varsity girls' basketball and junior varsity girls' lacrosse teams. Before her position at Longwood, she served as a physical education teacher at Sachem and Patchogue-Medford High Schools, along with Western Suffolk BOCES.

"I'm honored to continue to serve the Longwood Central School District in this new capacity," said Ms.Unterstein. "I enjoy working with the Junior High School students, staff, and families to continue building lasting relationships that foster a love of teaching and learning."

Ms. Unterstein received her bachelor's degree in Physical Education and master’s degree in Health Education from Hofstra University. She earned her post-master’s advanced graduate certificate in Education from Stony Brook University.

"We are thrilled for Ms. Unterstein as she takes on her role," said Dr. Lohman, Superintendent of Schools. "She is an experienced educational leader, and her years of proven leadership and experience making connections with students made her the ideal candidate."
