Celebrating a New School Year
On Friday, September 1, the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lohman, central office, administrators, faculty, and staff gathered for Superintendent's Conference Day to celebrate the start of an exciting school year, recognize milestones, and learn about the goals and vision for the year ahead.
Dr. Lohman welcomed back staff and shared the District's core values and principles, highlighting the importance of building and maintaining relationships, being human, and continuing to strengthen our community partnerships.
Teachers and staff were honored for their incredible 25, 30, 35, and 40 milestone years of service to Longwood (with an impressive combined total of 1,050 years)!
Also recognized for their exceptional commitment to our school community was Administrator of the Year, Coram Elementary School Principal Kimberly Longo, and CSEA Member of the Year, Charles E. Walters Elementary School special education aide Lisa Gaveglia. Mrs. Gaveglia's award was presented posthumously to her daughter and her colleague, Lisa Welch.
On behalf of the Board of Education, President Victoria Molloy wished everyone a great school year and thanked everyone for all they do for Every One ... Every Day!
"One of the most essential things in a child's development is their relationships with those around them," said Mrs. Molloy. "You show our kids that you see them, hear them, and care, and that means the world to them and us."
We are looking forward to an outstanding start to our 2023-2024 school year and welcoming our students back tomorrow, Wednesday, September 6!
