Grading Components

40% Tests and Quizzes

Tests are usually given at the end of each unit and are almost always announced beforehand. Teachers do have the right to give unannounced tests or quizzes when they deem necessary.

20% Student Work

Homework and classroom assignments will be given throughout the course with specific deadlines. To receive credit, homework and classwork must be handed in on time. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to find out the missed classwork as well as homework. If a student is absent on the due date of a homework or classwork assignment, they are required to bring in the work the day in which they return to class and turn it in to their teacher in order to receive credit.

20% Projects

A project will be assigned once a quarter. Each project will have specific objectives and criteria that will be discussed during the quarter. The projects must be turned in on or before the due date in order to receive full credit.

20% Participation

Student behavior each day in the classroom will contribute towards their participation grade. This grade incorporates being on time to class and ready to work when the bell rings, coming to class fully prepared, and acting in a respectfulk manner. Disrespectful and immature behavior towards the teacher and/or other students will deduct points from the student's participation grade.
