| High School Art Students create portraits for Honduran Orphans |
Last Spring, Longwood High School Art students created portraits of Honduran orphans from photos taken of them by Wisconsin-based Memory Project. This organization provides a bit of comfort to young children who have nothing. Over the summer, the children received the art work and their reactions and signs of gratitude are featured in this video and photos. The video is a “Thank You” to the art students across America who participated in the project; the photos are specific to Longwood. http://www.memoryproject.org/Honduras2012
The words of Ben Schumaker, Founder & Director - The Memory Project We did our best to get a nice photo of each child holding each portrait. As is always the case, a small percentage of kids who were registered to receive portraits were not there (some gone temporarily, some permanently). For those kids, we took photos of their portraits being held by friends. Next, we gave those portraits to their caretakers who will see that they reach the proper children.
