LHS Student-Actors Take Home Teeny Awards

Longwood High School student-actors Angelina Milici and Jonathan Arkay excelled at the 17th Annual Teeny Awards bringing home honors in major categories.

Angelina was named “Lead Female in a Musical” for her performance in Spamalot, and Jonathan Arkay took home the “Supporting Male in a Musical” award for Spamalot.

Also, Yip! Yip! Yaphank received the Judges Choice Award based on a particular scene, musical number, dance number, ensemble effort, or group that the judges felt warranted special recognition.

As stated by the judges, “The Judges Choice Award goes to the entire production of Yip! Yip! Yaphank for the sheer scope of the effort to present this piece of local theater history. The judges have never seen this kind of multi-year project that involved students in research and preparation, and it could not go without being recognized.”

The Teeny Awards has been celebrating excellence in high school theatre across the East End of Long Island since 2002 and is presented and coordinated by East End Arts.  Held at Southold High School on Sunday, June 9, the ceremony gave performances from 16 participating high schools.
