Longwood High School Mock Trial Team takes first place in the First Annual Virtual One-on-One Civil Law Moot Court Tournament!Congratulations to the Longwood High School Mock Trial Team for taking FIRST PLACE in the First Annual Virtual One-on-One Civil Law Moot Court Tournament!

Longwood High School entered two, three-member teams comprised of two attorneys and one witness per team. Teams competed in daily rounds, in which each team had to prepare and compete a legal case virtually against a different school in front of a judge.

Mock Trial Team One, comprised of Jacob Shapiro and Ashley Jones as Attorneys, and Isabella Conte as Witness, remained undefeated during every round of the week-long tournament, taking them to the finals against the other finalist, Massapequa High School. Longwood then won the Championship Round in front of a panel of judges.

Special recognition to Team Two with attorneys Diana Khan and Samantha Beisacher, and witness Madeline Leathers, for winning all preliminary rounds, except one.

Mock Trial co-advisors Ms. Eisen and Mr. Chan, along with community member and Attorney Consultant Coach, Ms. Carol Russell, worked with students daily on pretrial and post-trial practices, in addition to the daily tournament rounds.

All six students committed to taking part in this virtual tournament--a first of its kind--are commended for adhering to a rigorous work schedule, successfully taking on extra responsibilities and countless hours in addition to the regular demands of their distance learning studies.

Hosted by Northport High School, students from across Long Island participated in the tournament held virtually due to the pandemic.

Way to go, Mock Trial Team members!
