Frederick Strier

Fred Strier was born on May 14,
1919. He was the son of Frederick and Elsie Strier. Strier enlisted
in the Army Air Corp on June 3rd, 1940 and was sent to
Mitchell Field, where he was trained at the Field mechanic School at
Roosevelt Field. When the war broke out he was involved in the
engagements in Africa Sicily and Italy. Attached to the 306th
Air Service Squadron, 41st Air Service Group he made
three beach landings, one in Africa, and the other two at Anzio and
Salerno. Strier worked on all kinds of planes including P39s, P40s
and the P51 Mustangs. He was discharged from the service on August
20, 1945.
