Universal Pre-K

The Longwood Central School District, through participation in the New York State Universal Pre­ Kindergarten Program Grant is anticipating providing a two and a half hour, five days per week, ten­ month program for pre-school children in September, 2020.

The program is 100% funded by New York State. The State determines the number of children to be served by Longwood Central School District. Children who are or will be four (4) years of age on or before December 1, 2020 are eligible to participate in this program.

Universal Pre-Kindergarten classes are offered at selected community pre-schools that are licensed by New York State. These classes provide young students of diverse ability levels the opportunity to grow and learn in inclusive environments. Longwood Central School District currently contracts with the following three (3) pre-schools:

The New York State Education Department has determined that the district must use a lottery selection basis when there are more eligible children than can be served in a given school year. A waiting list will be developed for all students not placed. As seats become available, families will be offered the next available placement.

Transportation is not provided for this program. Transportation must be provided by the child's family.
