Trimester Information for First Grade

 

LANGUAGE ARTS GOALS FOR STUDENTS:

  • Form categories

  • Match a picture to an oral statement

  • Use sentences to describe pictures

  • Title pictures and stories

  • State main idea

  • Use beginning sentences

  • Predict outcomes

  • Identify nouns and verbs

  • Explore grammar, sentence structure and punctuation

  • Explore antonyms and synonyms

  • Use contractions, compound words and possessives

  • Follow A, B, C (alphabetical) order

  • Practice the skills to understand and follow directions

  • Write a 3-line story

READING GOALS FOR STUDENTS:

  • Identify and use initial and final consonant sounds

  • Identify and use vowel sounds

  • Construct experience stories

  • Read orally

  • Use signal words

  • Infer main idea

  • Sequence events with signal words

  • Practice the skills to understand and follow directions

MATHEMATICS GOALS FOR STUDENTS:
